during the works

On behalf of our client we met regularly at the property with the project builder and took a very hands on approach to the works. The precise positioning of new partition walls as well as fixtures and fittings were carefully marked out on the upper floor to ensure the space was being optimised to achieve the best possible outcome for the new walk in wardrobe and master en-suite.

This former schoolhouse, originally constructed in 1908 but later divided into flats, certainly threw us some curveballs. But during the strip out we also made some fantastic discoveries, including a subway tilled arch hidden behind the stud work of one of the bathrooms. We new that we couldn’t cover this back up and so straight away we set about altering the design of the bathroom to create a feature of this wonderful piece of architectural history.

the reveal

From a somewhat bland 90s conversion, which had been tenanted and unloved by it’s occupants for many years; emerged a cool, contemporary city pad just brimming with character and personality. A dining and entertaining space making full use of the double height ceiling and windows; a cosy mezzanine snug in what had previously been a corridor and a slick master suite where industrial and natural finishes work perfectly hand in hand.

Our client has now settled back in and is enjoying their revamped apartment. We went to visit them recently with our photographer and wanted to share with you some of our favourite images.

Julia was a joy to work with as the designer on our project in Vauxhall - a complete internal renovation including 2 bathrooms, kitchen and creation of a new room on a mezzanine floor. As is often the case the real life situation didn't always match the initial ideal design. Julia was responsive and adaptable, always helping with redesigns and improvements quickly and accurately in order to help us complete the project.
